Christ Apostolic Church Sheraton Hotel Assembly, Ikeja 2022 (21) days Fasting and Prayers. Theme: Divine Multiplication.
TOPIC: FINANCIAL UPRIGHTNESS
I want to welcome you all to Day 11 of this Fasting and Prayers, my consistent prayers is that you and I will surely receive answers to all our prayers in Jesus name.
Just like yesterday, the Holy Spirit is taking us deeper to some things that we undermine and the devil is using them as hindrances against Multiplication in our lives, my prayer is that the Lord will expose every instruments of Satan being used against us in Jesus name.
So many people are not upright or faithful when it comes to the issues of finances, and we always want the blessings of God on our crooked life, some people want to use God as a means of getting what they want and immediately they got it, they abandon Him, examine yourself.
To be upright is to be marked by strong moral rectitude, or strictly honourable or honest.
Uprightness of life is a major key to outstanding excellence in life and destiny.
One aspect of uprightness is financial integrity. The Scripture gives us examples of people who were positively affected by financial integrity or uprightness.
These were people who refused to take money or possession by unrighteous means, they refuses to take things that does not belong to them, they refused to be crooked in their dealings with people.
The bane of our society today is the selfishness of some people who want to acquire and get more than they want. They thought by acquiring more and keeping it for their yet unborn children is what is called wealth. Absolutely no.
The quick rich syndrome and the desire to join the big guys, has demean all the societal and cultural values of “Omoluabi” in today’s society.
This was aggravated by the lavish and ostentatious life of some of our leaders who their source of wealth are very questionable.
It is sad and very disturbing because our leaders and elders are unable to do anything.
According to our text, father Abraham was one of such persons that we can use as example of financial uprightness.
When the place of his brother was invaded marauders and his brother Lot was kidnapped with his family during the invasion.
Abraham went and fought with his servants in his house and they won the win the war and Lot was rescued.
The king of Sodom offered Abraham some gift but he rejected.
Genesis 14:22-23 says,
And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth, That I will not take from a thread even to a shoe latchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich.
Abraham made up his mind not to touch what was not his. He even refused to take what the king of Sodom legally gave to him, out of spiritual consideration and principle.
Can I ask you as we fast and pray these days, how did you come about this your stupendous wealth? Can you boldly says it is from God? Or it is from crooked means.
How are you even making your money? What is the source of your daily income?
And as a result of his financial integrity, the Scripture made it clear that Abraham was very rich in cattle, in silver and in gold (Genesis 13:2).
Genesis 24:1 says,
And Abraham was old, and well stricken in age: and the LORD had blessed Abraham in all things.
His secret was his refusal to compromise, he refuses to take what does not belong to him, and he received the God ordained Divine multiplication.
Abraham refused to take what he did not labour for and God’s favour gave him more and he is an example of Divine Multiplication.
Financial uprightness is a secret of financial prosperity.
Beloved, it is financial uprightness not to take what you were not given. It is crookedness to take what you are not licensed to take.
Let Us Pray.
